Manchester City to abandon Mahrez deal again

Having already abandoned their efforts to sign Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez once, Manchester City may decide to walk away again this summer, according to Manchester Evening News.

In January, City were not prepared to pay over £60million, while the Foxes demanded £95million and wouldn’t budge at all. Mahrez got angry and refused to show up for training for ten days. The situation seemed to have cooled down as reports emerged that the deal would be revived in the summer.

However, a similar scenario to that of January is apparently unfolding again as Leicester now demand £75million along with young Patrick Roberts. Manchester City have already turned their back on discussions with Shakhtar Donetsk for Brazilian midfielder Fred due to the fee demanded, as well as on Alexis Sanchez over his incredible wage demands, and they have no problem with giving up on Mahrez too if need be.

Whether Leicester will soften their stance come July or not, City have already scouted several alternatives to the Algerian.
