Matic to Inter gaining momentum

The reports linking Nemanja Matic with a January move to Inter Milan seem to be gathering pace. At first, the Nerazzurri interest in the Serbia international was reported by the likes of Calciomercato and Corriere dello Sport, but now Sky Sports quote their Italian branch on the same claim.

Matic lost his place in the team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Norwegian preferring young Scott McTominay in the role of a defensive midfielder, and he recently expressed his belief that the manager was wrong about that. He has been reduced to only five appearances so far this season.

On the other hand, Antonio Conte, formerly of Chelsea and now in charge at Inter, believes it was a mistake when the Londoners sold Matic to United and he is keen on working with the 31-year-old again as he ponders his next move in creating a team to seriously challenge for the Serie A title.
