Matty Longstaff offered ‘fantastic’ Newcastle deal

Newcastle have offered Matty Longstaff a ‘fantastic’ new deal in order to tempt him into remaining at the club, according to manager Steve Bruce.

The 20-year old midfielder has made a total of 13 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies this season, scoring three goals. His most notable one was undoubtedly the winner against Manchester United back in October last year.

The younger brother of the reported long-standing United target Sean, Longstaff’s current deal with Newcastle is about to expire, and the club appear desperate to keep hold of his services for years to come, though they still face uncertainty over a £300 million takeover. Lately, he has been linked with a move to Udinese.

Newcastle offered Longstaff a new contract worth around £15,000 per week earlier this season, which he turned down, but Bruce says the club have now returned with an improved offer, and adds that everyone at St. James Park is desperate for him to stay put.
