Meyer rejected by Barca

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have rejected an offer to sign Schalke‘s Max Meyer.

Having signed Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in January for a fee of €160 million, and with Arthur Melo set to join at the start of next year, the Catalan giants have no plans to sign another midfielder at this point.

The Spanish outlet claim that Meyer’s representatives contacted Barcelona, offering the services of the player who has been scouted by them before and whose contract with Schalke expires this summer, but they received a negative answer.

Although midfield maestro Andres Iniesta has confirmed that he is mulling over an offer from China, the Blaugrana’s midfield is already packed with quality and they have no interest whatsoever in adding to it.

At the age of just 22, Meyer is who can fulfill a number of midfield roles. His versatility and indisputable talent are certain to land him a good contract at a big club, but Barcelona are an unlikely destination.
