Milan and Chelsea to hold Tomori talks

AC Milan and Chelsea are set to hold talks over a permanent transfer of Fikayo Tomori, according to Sky Sports.

The 23-year-old defender was left practically without any game-time when veteran Thiago Silva arrived last summer, and he was consequently loaned out to Milan to get tome valuable first-team experience under his belt. And even though he’s been with the Rossoneri just a bit over a month, technical director Paolo Maldini is already impressed with his talent and wants to discuss a permanent switch.

The Serie A leaders have the option to make the deal permanent for around £26 million, but they believe that sum is too high. Therefore, they will try to negotiate more favourable terms with Chelsea.

Maldini, who played over 900 games for Milan and is still considered as one of the greatest defenders ever, certainly has what it takes to recognize talent in a young player, particularly a defender.

“Tomori is a good talent and we have a buy-option clause,” he told Sky in Italy ahead of their game against AS Roma on Sunday.

“The price is very high. AC Milan will decide at the end of this season and we will discuss it with Chelsea’s board.”
