The contract between Lucas Vazquez and Real Madrid is drawing to its end and AC Milan are keeping a close eye on the situation, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The 29-year-old, a winger by trade, has mostly been used as an auxiliary right-back by Real boss Zinedine Zidane in the absence of Dani Carvajal, the regular first option for the role. However, his contribution to the team’s season ended in early April when he ruptured a cruciate ligament in the 2-1 home win over arch-rivals Barcelona.
Zidane has four wingers at his disposal, all of them ahead of Vazquez in the pecking order on the attacking flanks and three of them very young. Gareth Bale could also return from his loan at Tottenham Hotspur, with another year left on his contract.
There have been no reports of progress when it comes to talks over a new deal for Vazquez, and Milan are apparently keen to take advantage and sign him as a free agent this summer.
