(GSM) – Dieumerci Mbokani has sealed his move to Ligue 1 side Monaco from Belgian outfit Standard Liege.

The highly rated striker has signed a four-year contract with his new employers, with the deal believed to have costed the French side €7 million.

After reportedly attracting interest from England this summer, with Fulham strongly linked with a move, Mbokani has opted to take on a new challenge in France.

And the Congo international is excited by the prospect of testing himself in Ligue 1.

“I am really pleased to have signed here,” he told Monaco’s official website.

“I think it’s a good club for me to continue to grow. Great players come through here, especially African ones, for example Emmanuel Adebayor. It’s motivating for me.

“I had offers from other big clubs in Europe but I chose to Monaco and I am very satisfied.”

Mbokani has complete faith in his ability to be a success in France and has already set his sights on the Golden Boot.

“I do not know this championship but I want to finish among the top scorers in Ligue 1,” he stated.

“Scoring goals is my thing, I’m on the pitch for that. But I also work while giving assists for the team to win the three points as often as possible.”
