Mourinho wants Icardi

AS have relayed a report from Ole magazine claiming Jose Mourinho intends to bring Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi to Old Trafford.

Icardi is one of the most sought-after strikers in the world at the moment, and given he found the net 29 times in 34 appearances last season it’s relatively safe to assume he wouldn’t come cheap. In fact, there is every chance the buyout-clause built in his contract, reportedly set to €110million, would have to be triggered or Inter wouldn’t even consider parting ways with one of their most prized assets. And even then, the player must be willing to move for the transfer to happen.

Still only 25, the Argentinian is about to enter his prime years and having reached the Champions League, the Nerazzuri aim to return to their old paths of glory with Icardi a crucial part of their plans. At United he would face competition from Romelu Lukaku, while the future of Mourinho himself remains unclear.
