(GSM) – David Moyes praised the attitude of his players after their victory over Chelsea. The Everton boss saw his players come from behind to sink the league leaders: 2-1.

Moyes felt his side were still feeling the effects of their Merseyside derby defeat at the start of the match but responded perfectly after going a goal down.

“The way the players went about it – we went a goal down, had to come back from there and, obviously the disappointment of the weekend was still with us I felt at the start of the game,” he told Sky Sports.

“But we didn’t half pick up and we didn’t half raise the roof here and raise the tempo and in the end it was a deserved victory I felt.”

The victory was Moyes’ first over Chelsea since he took over as Everton manager in 2002.

“Chelsea have always been a really tough team to beat because of the quality of players they have and the level of investment at the Club,” he continued.

“It is nice that we have beaten them and I wish we had beaten them in the FA Cup final last season.”

Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins said his side were ‘down and disappointed’ after the defeat which ended their 10-match unbeaten streak.

“It’s always a difficult place to come, Everton. They really do work extremely hard and they made it very difficult for is this evening,” Wilkins said.

“I suppose looking at the game as a whole you might say Everton just deserved to nick it.

“But we gave a good account of ourselves and we’re a little bit down and disappointed about it but all good things do come to an end (referring to the unbeaten run) but we’ll just have to go on another one.”
