Newcastle United monitoring Jan Paul van Hecke

Newcastle United are interested in signing Jan Paul van Hecke from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, according to TBR. The report has revealed that Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen are also keeping tabs on the 24-year-old centre-back.

Van Hecke has been on the books of Brighton since 2020. After having loan spells at Heerenveen and Brighton and Hove Albion, the Netherlands international central defender has established himself in the Seagulls’ first team. The 24-year-old has also played four times for the Netherlands.

Newcastle, who beat Liverpool in the final of the Carabao Cup this season, are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with 59 points from 33 matches, while Brighton currently find themselves 10th in the standings with 48 points from 33 games.
