Nicolas Gonzalez wants to stay at Atletico Madrid

Nicolas Gonzalez wants to continue his career at Atletico Madrid, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.

Gonzalez joined La Liga club Atletico on loan from Serie A outfit Juventus in the summer of 2025.

Moretto said about the Argentina international midfielder: “This type of injury is the direct consequence of a non-redemption by Atletico Madrid. Eh, what’s going on? 

“The obligation would have been triggered only if Nico had played practically all the games from here to the end with Atletico Madrid in Liga, at least 45 minutes of the match. 

“Obviously, the injury will keep him out, I think, until the end of the season if not just some scraps at the end, but we’ll see. 

“But the redemption obligation will not start. So what happens? It happens that what we were saying yesterday, Atletico and Juventus will deal with.

“Juventus are still asking for a figure of around 30 million euros. I don’t want to say that it must necessarily be the 32 million euros of the redemption obligation, but Juventus doesn’t want to go too far from that figure there, 30, 31 and 32. 

“Atletico would like to spend much less, around 22-23 million euros, maximum 25 bonuses included, these are the figures. 

“Nico’s will be important because it is true that he wants to stay in Madrid, it is true that he wants to stay at Atletico, but on the other hand, he knows that there is a Spalletti who respects him a lot.”
