No signings for Barca before Copa final – Valverde

Barcelona will not be completing any signings before the Copa Del Rey final against Valencia on Saturday, head coach Ernesto Valverde has confirmed.

Plenty of media outlets are adamant in their reports that Antoine Griezmann, who has confirmed he would be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer, is on his way to Nou Camp, though there have been claims that the idea was unpopular in the Barca dressing room. Defender Matthijs de Ligt of Ajax has also been heavily linked with the Blaugrana, though that move may take a while with the Catalans reportedly unwilling to raise their offer amid interest from other top clubs around Europe. Barcelona have already completed the deal which will see Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong arrive, but it appears that will be it as far as the next five days are concerned.

Having won the La Liga title, it is quite understandable that the club and the coach wish to avoid any distractions from the upcoming cup final, given the failure of their Champions League campaign.
