Norwich accept Newcastle bid for Jamal Lewis

Newcastle United submitted a bid of £13.5 million to Norwich City for the services of Jamal Lewis and it has been accepted, according to multiple reports.

The 22-year-old left-back was of much interest to Liverpool earlier this summer. The Premier League champions had offered £10m, but it was believed at the time that the Canaries wanted around double that amount and the negotiations soon ended, despite the player’s desire to join Jurgen Klopp’s team. Liverpool then moved to sign Kostas Tsimikas from Olympiacos instead and completed the deal quickly.

Newcastle obviously judged the moment was right to take advantage of the situation and the young defender’s wish to continue playing in the English top flight after Norwich’s relegation, and made their move. It’s now up to Lewis himself to decide whether to accept the move or not.

Lewis has shown a lot of defensive responsibility and attacking drive on the left flank for the Canaries last season, making a total of 33 appearances in all competitions and scoring once.
