James Ward-Prowse will return to West Ham for the rest of the season after his loan spell at Nottingham Forest was cut short.
Ward-Prowse left his boyhood club Southampton to join West Ham in a deal reportedly worth £30million in August 2023, then scored seven goals and provided seven assists in his first campaign at the London Stadium.
However, he was deemed surplus to requirements by Julen Lopetegui in August and joined Forest on loan.
But with Lopetegui being replaced by Graham Potter last month, Ward-Prowse will get a second chance to impress for the Hammers after his loan was terminated on Monday.
The midfielder cannot play for another club this season, having already represented West Ham and Forest in 2024-25, so he will be part of Potter’s squad for the rest of the campaign.
Ward-Prowse made nine Premier League appearances for Forest, starting five times, but he has only played a total of 21 minutes since starting in November’s 3-0 loss at Arsenal.
We can confirm that James Ward-Prowse has returned to West Ham United after a mutual agreement was reached between the two clubs.
Everyone at Forest thanks James for his professionalism and dedication during his time on Trentside and wish him well for the future. pic.twitter.com/9te0qgSYVi
