Nottingham Forest close to signing Neal Maupay

Nottingham Forest are close to signing Neal Maupay from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail. The report has claimed that Forest, who are playing in the Premier League this season after winning promotion from the Championship, have offered Brighton an initial transfer fee of £10 million plus £5 million in add-ons for the French forward.

Maupay has been on the books of Brighton since 2019. The 25-year-old has scored 26 goals and created 13 big chances in 102 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The Frenchman can play down the middle as a central striker or as out wide.

Forest have made a number of signings already in the summer transfer window, as they aim to compile a squad that can compete in the Premier League. Steve Cooper’s side lost to Newcastle United in their opening Premier League game of the season, but they beat West Ham United at the City Ground on Sunday.
