We all knew it was coming. We have known for more than a week but, finally it has happened. According to BBC, Jose Mourinho has been appointed as manager at Inter Milan where he takes over from Roberto Mancini. The Italian has won two consecutive championships with Inter and was awarded another following the Calciopoli scandal; However, his failure to succeed in the Champions League has cost him his job.
Jose Mourinho signed a three year contract at Inter where his main target will be to lift the Champions League trophy with the club – the same target that was set for him while in charge of Chelsea. The financial details of Mourinho’s contract have not been revealed by the club, however English tabloid, The Sun revealed last night that The Special One will be given a transfer kitty of £100 million to achieve his goals.
The English press have also linked former Chelsea stars Michael Essien, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard with moves to the Milan club in anticipation of the appointment of the former Chelsea boss. Mourinho is also said to be interested in Barcelona’s Samuel Eto’o, the Spanish press revealed last week, but he will face competition from cross-town rivals AC Milan who, according to l’Equipe, are also interested in the Cameroonian.
