Osijek’s Eros Grezda set for Rangers move

Rangers are interested in signing Eros Grezda from Osijek, according to the Express. Manager Steven Gerrard is keen on signing Grezda as a direct replacement for Jamie Murphy. Murphy has been ruled out for the season with a crucial ligament injury, leaving the former Liverpool captain short with options on the left attacking flank.

Grezda is an Albanian international who started his career at Slovenian side Aluminij playing in their second-tier league. After a year and a half he moved to Zavrč for six months before trading Slovenia for Croatia, where he played initially for Lokomotiva Zagreb, and moved to Osijek in 2017. Last season he scored eight goals in 37 appearances.

If Grezda joins Rangers, he will become the third signing Gerrard has made from Croatia since his appointment this summer, after Nikola Katić from Slaven Belupo and Borna Barišić from Osijek. The 23-year-old will travel to Glasgow within the next day to undergo a medical, and the deal will still be subject to a work permit being issued.
