Ousmane Dembele available for €60m

Barcelona are prepared to part ways with Ousmane Dembele for as little as €60 million, according to Marca.

The French winger was brought in from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 for over €100 million in order to try and fill the void left by Neymar’s departure to PSG, but he fell thoroughly short of the task. He could, perhaps, be excused to an extent given the way frequent injuries have impeded his progress at the Camp Nou, but there’s no hiding from the fact that the talented 22-year-old hasn’t lived up to expectations.

Barcelona are now in a situation where they need to sign more firepower upfront to provide cover for the ageing feet of Luis Suarez, as well as keep an eye out for a potential successor to six-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi. They need significant funds to try and thrash out a deal for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez, and to possibly bring Neymar back in the near future. That’s why they are prepared to part ways for just over half of the amount they paid for Dembele, but under the current circumstances, it remains to be seen if any club would be willing to pay even that for the Frenchman.
