Michael Owen has joined Manchester United on a two-year contract, the Premier League champions said on their website on Friday.

“Michael is a world class forward with a proven goalscoring record at the highest level and that has never been in question,” said manager Alex Ferguson.

“Coming to Manchester United with the expectations that we have is something that Michael will relish,” he added on www.manutd.com.

The 29-year-old England striker was out of contract having left Newcastle United so no transfer fee is involved.

I like L23’s post: trust in fergie.
That’s what we should all do.
At first I thought that fergie was a bit crazy to sign owen as his glory days are well and truly over, but now I cant make him back the truck up.

its really surprising d signing on of owen, he was a great player, i dont knw weda he still is, bt SAF has made his choice. he is d coach n he knws wat he can make out of owen, i can only just keeping my finger cross and wish him luck.

SAF are u thru with d sign-on or shld we expected Arjen Robben from Maldrid to cover our wing, so dat roony can place d role of a center striker n score goals

In my opinion, Owen has had a pretty quiet one for the last few months. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if he’s still got his game with a full blown team such as Man United.

Of course, we see it when England plays, but I just had a flash of what its gonna be like when Owen and Rooney attack the defenses of the other Premiership teams…… the keeper and defenders are gonna be running the other way, too scared to even think of attempting to resist…
I know I am exaggerating, but I got to be supportive of my club.
