Everton will aim on ending their winless streak when they travel to Wembley to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night. We make our prediction on the Premier League clash.

Tottenham Hotspur

Domestically it’s been a disappointing season for Tottenham Hotspur so far and they currently find themselves fifth in the Premier League – three points adrift from the top four and incredibly 21 away from runaway-leaders Manchester City. Mauricio Pochettino knows Saturday’s game against Everton is vital if they want to keep up with Liverpool who are just sitting inside the Champions League positions but their last league result was a disappointing 1-1 home draw against West Ham United. Spurs will know they’ve dropped too many points this season but they have in fact won five of their last seven league games, scoring 19 goals, and they will be keen on maintaining this form as they head into their crucial Champions League fixtures next month. Fans must be wondering where their team would be without Harry Kane though who has managed to bag 18 times already this campaign and currently tops the goalscoring list. The Englishman showed he’s recovered from his recent illness by netting twice in the FA Cup match against Wimbledon last week and he’s the main reason why Tottenham should beat Everton this weekend.

Team News

Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son all look set to be recalled to the starting line-up after they were rested for the Wimbledon match.

Harry Winks is still out with an ankle injury.

After a promising start to life at Goodison Park for Sam Allardyce, Everton have now suffered three defeats on the bounce in all competitions. It is also four weeks without a win for the Toffees and they’ll be well aware of how difficult it will be to get anything from Wembley on Saturday evening. In truth, Allardyce’s last two games have come against tough opposition in Manchester United and Liverpool but they desperately need to start picking up points if they are to avoid slipping down the league. Away from home has been a problem for Everton, but even though they have only won once all season, they have still managed to score in five of the last six games. The arrival of £27 million Turkey forward Cenk Tosun will no doubt bolster their attacking options and could give the Tottenham defence cause for concern. The former Besiktas man looks ideally suited to the Premier League judging on some impressive performances for them in Europe this season.

Team News

Everton will be without Ramiro Fuses Mori, Leighton Baines, Idrissa Gueye and Seamus Coleman.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Tottenham are unbeaten in their last 10 Premier League games against Everton (W5 D5)
  • The Toffees haven’t lost away to Spurs in the league since November 2008
  • Everton’s last three visits to Wembley have ended in 2-1 defeats
  • The Toffees have only won one of their last 43 Premier League away games against the ‘big six’ (D15 L27)
  • Harry Kane is one goal away from equalling Teddy Sheringham sa Tottenham’s highest scorer in the league

Everton look set to lose on Saturday as they are in a bad run of form and have a terrible away record this season. However, they are still scoring goals and their signing of Tosun will only improve them going forward so we’re going for Spurs to win and both teams to net.

Verdict: Tottenham to win and both teams to score
