The Premier League returns to our lives once again this weekend for what will be the final set of fixtures before the season’s first proper international break. There’s a whole lot left to fight for throughout the remainder of the weekend and two clubs who have very different objectives, who will meet this weekend, are West Ham United and Crystal Palace. The Hammers want to keep their 100% record going whereas the Eagles are desperate to get a win on the board.

West Ham

West Ham United surprised an awful lot of people last season with their top six finish and their aim, it would appear, is to do something similar – even with the added strain of the Europa League to deal with. David Moyes has built a team more than capable of challenging on multiple fronts and given how much inconsistency there’s been within the supposed “big six” in recent times, we wouldn’t be surprised to see them build on this in the years to come.

Team News

Reid is set to miss out through injury with Masuaku being the only other fitness doubt. The Hammers aren’t expected to make too many changes from the team that beat Leicester with Zouma not expected to be registered in time to play.

Crystal Palace

It’s far, far too early to say whether or not the Patrick Vieira experiment is going to be a success or a failure but the early signs certainly aren’t all too promising. Still, the summer transfer window was pretty exciting for the club and it takes time to build a real relationship between a squad and its new manager – which is why the Frenchman needs to be given the benefit of the doubt. In a game like this, actually, you could even argue the pressure is off given their opponents’ positive start to the season.

Team News

Milivojevic has been ruled out of this one with Eze, Ferguson and Olise all being on the shelf as Palace search for that winning formula under Vieira.

Factors to Consider

  • In their last meeting back in January, West Ham beat Crystal Palace 3-2.
  • West Ham have won both of their Premier League games this season.
  • Crystal Palace have drawn one and lost one of their Premier League games this season.
  • West Ham have scored eight goals and conceded three so far in the Premier League.
  • Crystal Palace have scored zero goals and conceded three so far in the Premier League.

Conclusion

While may are excited to see Palace eventually explode into life in the top flight, we don’t think that’s actually going to happen – at least, not for a few more games. West Ham haven’t got to think about their European duties just yet and because of that, they can instead focus their attention on the league. We expect them to run through the Eagles with relative ease although we do expect Palace to get their first goal of the campaign.

Prediction: West Ham win
