Last year’s finalists Paris Saint Germain were knocked out of the French Cup 3-1 by third division Rodez on Wednesday, conceding two goals in the last five minutes of extra time of their round of last 16 match.

Two goals from Jeremy Choplin and another from Miguel Pacios meant Paul Le Guen’s in-form side, who are challenging strongly for the French league title and are in the last 16 of the UEFA Cup, were humbled by lowly opposition in this last 16 tie.

A run of five victories and a draw in all competitions for PSG came to an end against little Rodez, who are more in threat of going down from their division rather than moving up into the second flight.

PSG went ahead through Sammy Traore in the eighth minute though the conceding of the goal seemed to spur on Rodez who gained the initiative and had numerous chances.

Choplin equalised in the 72nd minute from 25 metres, thanks to a fortunate deflection, then put his side ahead five minutes before the end of extra time. Portuguese striker Miguel Pacios netted Rodez’s third with two minutes to go.
