Real Madrid have started considering Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly as a potential replacement for Raphael Varane, should the Frenchman leave this summer, as reported by AS.
Mixed reports have been coming surrounding the future of Varane. According to some, he is quite happy in Madrid, while others claim he would welcome the challenges of a new league having won it all with Real Madrid.
Like the Los Blancos centre-back, Koulibaly himself is an object of much speculation. He has made huge progress in recent seasons and is currently considered among the best in the world in his position, and many feel Napoli cannot contain players of such class.
However, head coach Carlo Ancelotti is absolutely adamant that the Senegal international will not be leaving the club any time soon. His contract, signed only last September, still has four years to run, which puts Napoli in a very strong position. Bruno Satin, the defender’s agent, also spoke on the matter recently but he only said his client would not betray Napoli by joining Juventus.
Apart from the Old Lady, Koulibaly has been linked with Manchester United too.
