Real Madrid are growing confident of completing a deal for Chelsea’s Eden Hazard this summer, according to Sky Sports and their sources.
It will, however, probably take for them to break their transfer record to sign the Belgian as Chelsea are holding out for a fee of £100 million, despite only 12 months remaining on his contract.
Hazard has been torn between moving to Santiago Bernabeu and staying at Stamford Bridge for almost a year now, ever since he sparked Real’s interest with superb displays in the 2018 World Cup. He spoke of his indecision on several occasions openly, stating that he was happy in London but feeling that at his age (28 now) there is one big move left in his career.
Real have been struggling to compensate for the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo who joined Juventus last summer. They’ve changed the manager twice, and as they plan a summer squad overhaul, they see Hazard as a likely solution for the woes that have been plaguing them this season.
