Real Madrid want de Ligt

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have stepped up their push for Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt. The 19 year old was expected to join Barcelona once the season came to an end, but up to this point they haven’t been able to officially get a deal done. He was then linked with a somewhat surprising move to Manchester United, with Juventus also being in the running. Nobody can really keep track of what’s happening one way or another at this stage, but one thing is for sure: Ajax are going to get paid handsomely regardless of where he ends up.

Real already have plenty of high profile superstars within their ranks as we all know, but someone like de Ligt could wind up being a franchise defender for them for many, many years to come – and that’s no exaggeration.

Will it come to fruition? Only time will tell.
