Real planning a massive clear-out

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is planning a massive clear-out next summer, according to Sport.

Apparently, Perez is worried that the players may have lost their competitive hunger and intends to tackle the issue with a complete revamp of the squad. Sport also reveal that there have been secret discussions with Jose Mourinho about the sacked Manchester United boss returning to Santiago Bernabeu, going on since October, and the clear-out has been one of topics of those discussions.

It is believed Mourinho might not want to work with Thibaut Courtois again after their problems at Chelsea, and that captain Sergio Ramos in turn wouldn’t want to work with Mourinho again, so both of them could be on the way out. Gareth Bale, although still able to perform at the highest level, is far too inconsistent. Along with Karim Benzema, the Welshman has been classified as “the spoilt children of Perez”. Luka Modrić wanted to leave last summer, and as his contract expires soon, he may not get a new one due to his age and recent poor performances. Isco and Asensio may also go, while Luca Zidane and Kiko Cassilla have no future at the club.
