Real Madrid are set to complete the signing of Eder Militao from FC Porto, according to AS.
The Spanish outlet reported a few days ago that the Champions League holders had decided to pay the buyout clause in the Brazilian’s contract, reported to stand at €50million, and the only thing that was missing for the deal to go ahead was the versatile defender actually agreeing to the move to the Spanish capital. That obstacle has now been cleared, and Militao gave a verbal ‘yes’ to Real.
Los Blancos have been searching for a long-term successor to captain Sergio Ramos, a young player that would potentially partner Raphael Varane at the heart of defence. Like Varane himself, Jesus Vallejo has been injured too often, and a more stable solution was needed. Enter Militao.
Should the move materialize, Real will have beaten the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea for the services of the 21-year-old centre-back, capable of filling in a right-back as well.
