Reguilon to join Sevilla on loan

Sergio Reguilon is set to join Sevilla on loan from Real Madrid, according to AS.

The 22-year-old left-back will reportedly sign a 12-month contract with Sevilla, who will not have the option to sign him permanently at the end of that period. The agreement points to Reguilon still having a place in the plans for the future at the Santiago Bernabeu, but they are keen to help him get regular game-time to benefit his development.

There has been much speculation about the future of Real’s long-serving first choice on the left defensive flank, Marcelo, and the chances of him staying put haven’t been increased by the arrival of Ferland Mendy from Olympique Lyon earlier this summer.

Former Real head coach Julen Lopetegui, now in charge at Sevilla, has personally requested his new employers do what they could to bring Reguilon to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan, having promoted him to the first team back during his short stint in Madrid.
