Rome to tie down Pellegrini

AS Roma are extremely keen on securing the long-term future of Lorenzo Pellegrini. According to Corriere dello Sport, they want the midfielder to sign a new contract, extending his commitment for further two years compared to the current one, until 2024.

Roma had a club hero in the form of Francesco Totti for a very long time, and it seems they’ve identified Pellegrini as an ideal candidate for the throne. They are prepared to give him Totti’s shirt number 10 and the captain’s armband, and they wish to remove the €30 million release clause from the deal.

At the age of 23, Pellegrini is already a fantastic player, but there is also much room for growth which comes with experience. He was born in the capital, another important aspect for the club when aiming to make a new legend.

However, it remains to be seen whether the young Italian would accept such responsibility, or if he’s truly capable of reaching the same heights as Roma’s previous number 10 if he does.
