Rondon happy to stay at Newcastle

Salomon Rondon spoke to Newcastle Chronicle and revealed that he would be happy to stay at St James Park after his current loan deal expires this summer.

Temporarily switched from West Bromwich Albion, the striker has enjoyed a fruitful spell at Tyneside under Rafa Benitez, scoring eight goals in 22 games for Newcastle in all competitions so far.

Not only does his loan deal expire this summer, but the contract with his parent club also runs out at the end of June and he will be a free agent afterwards, unless he signs a new deal.

Rondon said he was happy at the north-east of England and that his family had settled there.

However, he also stressed that everything wasn’t up to him alone, and that he can only stay if the Magpies put an offer on his table.

Given his status at the club, Newcastle are certainly favorites to land the 29-year-old Venezuela international on a permanent basis, but Everton are reportedly interested too.
