Rugani wants new Juventus deal

Juventus’ Daniele Rugani and his agent Davide Torchia are working on getting a new deal with the club, Torchia told RMC Sport.

The 24-year-old defender played two years at Empoli. He was chosen as Serie B Player of the Year in his first and made the Serie A Team of the Year in his second, before joining the Old Lady in 2015. So far, he has played 69 matches for Juventus and scored five goals, helping the club to win three consecutive league and cup doubles in Italy. He has also been capped seven times for his country.

The agent also revealed Rugani had been targeted by Chelsea during the summer. A bid was on the table and Juventus considered it, but the bottom line was that the player didn’t want to leave Turin. Juventus then turned the proposal down and the matter was eventually abandoned.

His current deal runs until the summer of 2021, but it looks like the player and his agent wish to secure his future with the Serie A title holders for longer than that.
