Making their first appearance since the disappearance of beloved forward Emiliano Sala, Nantes will welcome Champions League contenders Saint-Etienne to the Stade de la Beaujoire on Wednesday night.

Starting with the hosts, clearly still struggling with their tragic off-field issues, Nantes also find themselves quickly slipping into a relegation battle in Ligue 1. Coming off the back of a 1-0 loss away at Angers last weekend, Vahid Halilhodžić’s side have now lost their last three matches on the bounce and their form in the final third will be a growing concern. Failing to find the net in any of their three consecutive defeats, a run of over 300 minutes of football, Wednesday’s hosts also lost their last home match 1-0 to Rennes. Recording just one clean sheet at the Stade de la Beaujoire since the middle of November, we’re backing another tricky night for Nantes.

As for the visitors, while Saint-Etienne might have crashed out of the Cup at the hands of a loss against Dijon last week, the Green and Whites still remain in pole position to secure a return to the Champions League. Winning three of their last four Ligue 1 matches, one man to watch for the visitors will be leading goalscorer Wahbi Khazri. The former Sunderland winger has now bagged six in his last six league appearances. With the chance to move within a point of Lyon, we’re backing Saint-Etienne to come away with the three points of Wednesday night.
