Mohamed Salah spoke of his pride at scoring his 150th goal for Liverpool after hitting the milestone during the title chasers’ 3-1 win over Norwich City at Anfield.

Liverpool trailed to the relegation-threatened Canaries after Milot Rashica’s deflected strike, before goals from Sadio Mane, Salah, and Luis Diaz moved the Reds to within six points of the Premier League summit.

With leaders Manchester City then being beaten 3-2 by Tottenham in a thrilling game at the Etihad Stadium, Salah’s landmark goal helped to boost the Reds’ title hopes, and the Egypt forward was beaming over his achievement.

“It feels great,” the 29-year-old told Premier League productions.

“We were struggling in the beginning when we conceded the goal but I think we played good football [in the] first half. The second half, we conceded the goal, so the game became tougher.

“But we managed to come back and it’s a great result.

“Of course, I’m happy to score 150. I’m always proud to score for this club, and the most important thing is to win games, which is what we did today.”

Salah took just 233 matches to reach 150 goals for the Merseyside outfit, a record bettered only by the legendary Roger Hunt, who needed just seven matches fewer to accomplish the feat.

However, the Premier League’s top goalscorer was eager to turn his attentions to the title race after discussing his goal.

“We know when you fight with City, most of the time they win games, so all we can do is focus on ourselves and see what happens at the end of the season,” he added.

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp struggled to name his favourite Salah goal, reeling off an impressive list of his memorable strikes before hailing his goalscoring prowess.

“Today was a really cheeky one, to be honest,” Klopp said.

“I remember the Chelsea goal, [where he] comes inside and [hits a] thunderbolt in the corner, the dribbles against City and Watford, the United goal, the Champions League one at City as well was very special.

“I can probably not remember all 150, but I can remember a lot and there were some really good goals.

“The first was at Watford [in August 2017, on Salah’s debut] was probably the easiest. No-one could imagine when he scored the first that he could score 149 in such a short period of time.”

Salah now has 17 goals and nine assists in the top flight this season, and is the strong favourite to win a third Premier League golden boot in five seasons, while Liverpool remain in the hunt for silverware on all four fronts.
