Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez has recently changed his agent, and Catalan outlet Sport believe this particular action of his might have taken him one step closer to a Barcelona move.
The relationship between the two clubs is far from perfect after Barcelona’s failed attempt of signing Antoine Griezmann last summer. The French forward chose to stay at the Wanda Metropolitano, and the whole business caused unrest within Barcelona as their defender Gerard Pique was involved in the making of the video in which Griezmann revealed his decision.
The Catalans have now turned their attention to Saul as they look to revamp their midfield, with the 24-year-old seen as a replacement for Ivan Rakitić who could be heading to Manchester United soon.
Barcelona have an excellent relationship with Stellar Group, which now represents Saul and has helped them recruit a number of promising talents in the past. The midfielder’s contract, set to run until 2026, contains a €150 million buyout clause, but the La Liga champions deemed the figure corresponding to the quality of the player.
