With the chance to reclaim their spot in the top-four, Schalke will make the trip to relegation scrappers Augsburg on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Augsburg may have managed to scrape away with a 0-0 stalemate at Wolfsburg last weekend, they were incredibly outplayed and still find themselves in the midst of an extended rut. Freefalling into the drop zone and Head Coach Martin Schmidt coming under increasing scrutiny, fans around the WWK Arena have seen their side record just a single victory since opening the 2019/2020 Bundesliga campaign. Now seen to be one of the leading contenders for the drop this year, there is no doubt that Schmidt will be most concerned by his side’s continued issues at the back. Shipping 11 goals in their last four appearances, only rock-bottom Paderborn have shipped more goals heading into November.

As for the visitors, making a return to winning ways with a DFB Pokal victory against Arminia Bielefeld in midweek, Schalke have plenty of positives to take away heading into November. Despite only just managing to retain their Bundesliga status last season, they are still flirting with Europe and have made a string of improvements since appointing former Huddersfield boss David Wagner. There is no doubt that fans around the VELTINS-Arena will be most impressed by their side’s continued success on the road. Including bagging a famous 3-1 win away at RB Leipzig last month, the Blues have lost just one match on their travels and should be confident of extending that tally on Sunday.
