Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann gave an interview for Diario AS and among other things, he spoke about his decision to snub advances from Barcelona and remain at the club. The forward revealed that he feels settled in Madrid now and that he feels pride and responsibility as the club’s third captain. He is happy where he is, he loves the club, his teammates and sees no need to move away.
Speaking about manager Diego Simeone, Griezmann said nobody was prepared to even consider his departure. They see the Argentinian there with them for as long as they continue to deliver results.
The World Cup winner also claims Lucas Hernandez is happy at the club just like himself, and he believes the 22-year-old defender has everything he needs to continue his development at Atletico. Hernandez was linked with a move to Manchester United this summer as they reportedly plotted to activate his buyout clause.
The 27-year-old, however, seemed less optimistic talking about Filipe Luis. The Brazil international was strongly linked with Paris Saint-Germain late in August but ended up staying at the Wanda Metropolitano. He said they all want him to stay but added that every player has his own motives.
