Smelling a real chance to lay down another marker on the road this weekend, Sevilla will make the trip to Eibar on Saturday lunchtime.

Starting with the hosts, while Eibar might have managed to come from behind and grab themselves a point away at Celta Vigo last weekend, Los Armeros are a side who are desperately seeking some stability. With their recent issues highlighted by a shock 3-1 drumming against lower-league Navalcarnero while on Copa del Rey duties earlier in the month, the Gunsmiths still find themselves firmly looking over their shoulder at the drop zone. With just a single La Liga victory to their name since the end of November, Head Coach José Luis Mendilibar will know that he must resolve Eibar’s extended issues on home soil. Hit with a 2-1 defeat against Atletico Madrid last time out at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium, Eibar have landed just a single top-flight home win all season and they should face a stern test this weekend.

As for the visitors, putting in a thumping display earlier in the week, Sevilla managed to book their spot in the quarter-finals of this year’s Copa del Rey and the mood in their camp should be at a real high. Eventually romping their way to a 3-0 victory against Valencia on home soil, Los Palanganas have continued to gain a string of admirers this season. With a Champions League knockout tie against Borussia Dortmund on the cards for next month, one-time Spain boss Julen Lopetegui finds his side enjoying a four-match winning run across all formats. Really managing to bounce back from that defeat against league leaders Atletico Madrid when returning from the festive break, Sevilla should rightfully be smelling a golden chance to extend on their purple patch this weekend.
