Silva and Fulham ´on the same page´ despite contract uncertainty

Marco Silva remains “on the same page” with the Fulham hierarchy amid speculation over his future at Craven Cottage during the international break.

Silva joined Fulham in 2021 after Scott Parker left for Bournemouth, and the 48-year-old secured the Cottagers’ immediate return to the Premier League in his first season.

From there, Silva has established Fulham as a top-flight regular, leading them to 10th, 13th and 11th place finishes, respectively, though the club has struggled in 2025-26.

Fulham are 15th in the Premier League, just a point above the relegation zone, but Silva has been offered a new deal, with his current contract running out at the end of this season.

Silva was of reported interest to Saudi Arabia and fellow top-flight side Nottingham Forest after they sacked Ange Postecoglou, but the Portuguese boss remains calm about the situation.

“We have been on the same page. Of course, we don’t agree on everything – I think in your job you don’t agree on everything,” Silva said.

“If you have been achieving great results all the seasons we have been here and sometimes overachieving as well, you cannot do it if you are not on the same page.

“Of course, at some moments not everything [is] perfect – not everything I’d like to see the club [do] to progress, and sometimes the fans want [that] as well.

“But that does not mean that we are not on the same page.

“It doesn’t mean that we don’t have a great relationship and an honest and respectful relationship with everybody at the top of the club.”

During his time in charge of Fulham, Silva has overseen 125 Premier League games, winning 46 of those matches (D26 L53), averaging 1.31 points per match.

But the Fulham boss made his frustrations known ahead of the new season about the lack of transfer business conducted by the club, with four new players added to the squad, only one of which was on a permanent deal, and most of their business left late.

However, the Cottagers may be forced to delve into the January transfer market after Silva confirmed that striker Rodrigo Muniz would not be available until the new year after needing surgery on a hamstring injury sustained against Everton earlier this month.

Since joining Fulham in August 2021, only Raul Jimenez (20) has scored more Premier League goals for Fulham than Muniz (18).

“I can give you more or less the timescale – in the middle of February, could be the time for him [to return],” Silva said of Muniz’s injury.

“We suffered as a club before, when he got injured. We didn’t have him, and we had to go and help the boys that we have in the under-21s be ready to help the team.

“We have different solutions, players and wingers there.”

Asked whether Fulham would target a striker in January, Silva said: “I don’t yet want to go in the direction of saying that is something we have to get.”
