Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone lavished praise on Yannick Ferreira Carrasco as his first ever hat-trick helped his side come from behind and cruise past bottom club Granada 7-1 to top La Liga.

After a first-half double, Carrasco completed his treble in the second 45 before Atleti ran riot after the hour – Nico Gaitan grabbing a double before Angel Correa and Tiago completed the emphatic win.

That all came after Isaac Cuenca had given Granada a shock lead at Vicente Calderon, but the hosts recovered and blew them away to reclaim top spot in La Liga.

Simeone was thrilled with Carrasco’s display and predicted even more to come from the 23-year-old as he continues to improve.

“I’m very happy for Carrasco. He is a very complete player, with a bright future ahead of him,” Simeone said, as reported by Marca.

“He is on the path to getting even better.”

“We work with him day by day to help him play like he did today.”

Meanwhile, Carrasco was delighted to grab the three goals and help his side to a huge victory.

“I’m very happy to score a hat-trick for the first time in my career,” he told beIN Sports.

“I hope that things keep going well for me.”
