Sneijder would be a fantastic signing for Red Devils

Inter playmaker Wesley Sneijder has admitted he couldn’t turn down a move to Premier League giants Manchester United.

Sneijder’s contract negotiations over a new deal at Inter have broken down and United have long been linked with a swoop for the Dutch star.

Impossible

Sneijder told the Daily Star Sunday: “If somebody asks me if I will ever play for Manchester United, it’s impossible for me to say no,”

“How can you say that if the chance came you would not play for one of the biggest clubs in the world?

“‘I don’t think there is any player in the world who could publicly rule out ever playing for Manchester United, and if they did I would doubt they were telling the truth.”

Big

Sneijder has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world. Inter are obviously now the dominant force in Italy but Serie A isn’t what it used to be. The Premier League and La Liga are far bigger than the Italian league and the best players want to showcase their talents in the top leagues.

He is in my opinion one of the best midfielders in the world. He has always been a player I have rated highly and when he was at Real Madrid thought his talent was wasted. He never got a real chance to shine at the Bernabeu.

His spell in La Liga proved frustrating and he must have been relieved by moving to Inter and gaining a regular first team place.

Key

He became the fulcrum of the Inter side that won the Champions League last season. He was the creative force of a team that was a well drilled outfit.

It seems that Spanish giants Real Madrid now want the 26 year-old back at the Bernabeu. New Real boss Jose Mourinho knew that Sneijder was a key player for him at Inter and maybe thinks he could be again at the Bernabeu.

Uninterested

However Sneijder isn’t keen on a move back to the Spanish capital after that his spell at the club. There are few sides in the world who can offer him the opportunity to win the Champions League again.

Having also already played in La Liga and Serie A the Premier League is the missing league from his CV. There are probably only a few clubs in the Premier League capable of attracting Sneijder and Manchester United are probably the best suited club for the Dutchman.

Creativity

Last season Manchester United lacked creativity last season and United’s midfielders aren’t the most creative. Wesley Sneijder would offer something different for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. Whether United will make a bid for him is another question.

Priorities

In the January transfer window I don’t think an attacking midfielder will be United’s priority but Sneijder would still be an excellent signing. I suspect that United will be looking to sign a centre-back this January but I’m sure most United fans would love to see the Dutchman at Old Trafford.

Should Manchester United sign Wesley Sneijder?
