Southampton confirm signing Elyounoussi

Southampton have confirmed the signing Mohamed Elyounoussi from FC Basel via their official website.

Elyounoussi has signed a deal that makes him a Southampton player for the next five years.

Though he was born in Morocco, the versatile attacking player is a Norwegian international and has scored four goals in 16 caps for his country. He arrives to the south coast of England having had spells with Norwegian clubs Sarpsborg 08 FF and Molde – three years each, and two years with Basel where he played 84 times and scored 24 goals in all competitions, including the Champions League as well as the Europa League.

Manager Mark Hughes is very excited about adding Elyounoussi to his attacking options after the arrival of Stuart Armstrong, and he’s confident of being able to help the player develop his talent further. The player says he’s aware that the club had been monitoring him for a while and that he’s happy with their reputation of bringing young players in and developing them.
