Celtic’s 14-match winning streak came to an end on Saturday as they played out a 1-1 draw at Aberdeen in the Scottish Premier League.

A superb run of form in all competitions had seen Neil Lennon’s side enter the Pittodrie Stadium encounter with plenty of confidence.

Aberdeen were on an impressive run of their own, with Craig Brown’s side unbeaten in 11 prior to the visit of the Glasgow giants.

And the hosts started well as they took it up to the more-fancied Celtic.

It was Celtic who took the lead though, when Anthony Stokes slotted his 19th goal of the season from a tight angle.

The goal did not dampen Aberdeen’s enthusiasm and they levelled on the stroke of half-time when Celtic defender Andre Blackman scored an own goal.

Blackman deflected Gavin Rae’s well-hit strike into the back of the net and the scoreline remained the same up until the final whistle as both sides were forced to share the spoils.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ poor form continued as they slumped to a 2-1 home defeat against Hearts.

Steven Davis scored on the stroke of half-time at Ibrox, but Ian Black levelled just 13 minutes into the second half.

Jamie Hamill got the winner on 79 minutes as Ally McCoist’s side lost their third successive home match.

Motherwell kept the pressure on Rangers in the race for second with a 2-0 win at Dunfermline.

Michael Higdon and Henrik Ojamaa scored in the second half for the winners.

In other matches, Hibernian and St Mirren, and Kilmarnock and St Johnstone, both played out goalless draws.
