Glasgow Rangers’ struggles continued as they were defeated 2-1 by Dundee United in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday.

Rangers, who entered administration and were deducted 10 points amid huge financial problems in February, have now lost four of their past six matches.

Dundee United were the ones to take advantage of the club’s troubles this week as goals to Keith Watson and Jon Daly gave them victory.

Sone Aluko scored a consolation for Rangers on the hour mark but they could not find an equaliser as Peter Houston’s side climbed to fourth.

Motherwell are now just goal difference behind Rangers after they won 1-0 against Aberdeen at Fir Park.

Steven Hammell grabbed the only goal of the game on 22 minutes as Motherwell’s good run of form, which has seen them lose just one of their past nine matches, continued.

Lee Croft, David McCracken and Francisco Sandaza all netted for St Johnstone in their 3-0 win at St Mirren in the day’s other match.
