Spurs not looking to sell Alli in January

Tottenham Hotspur are not looking to sell or loan out Dele Alli in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder joined Spurs from MK Dons in 2015, and having been an important part of the team during throughout the reign of Mauricio Pochettino, he has fallen completely out of favour since Jose Mourinho took over. This season Alli has made only four Premier League appearances, starting only one of those games – a 0-1 defeat to Everton on the opening day of the campaign, and even then he was taken off at halftime.

It was reported last month that the relationship between the player and the coach had gone beyond repair, after Alli threw a tantrum for being taken off in the 66th minute of the Carabao Cup win over Stoke City.

However, Mourinho is apparently aware of the need for a player of Alli’s characteristics for the rest of the season, as he can stand in for any one of the injured trio of Gareth Bale, Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela.
