Harry Kane is set to remain at Tottenham Hotspur for the season despite ‘blunt’ attempts by Manchester City to acquire the services of the England captain, according to The Times.
Back in June, the Premier League champions made a bid worth £100 million for Kane which Spurs rejected straight away. City could be willing to pay more than that, but it is believed that stance of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy wouldn’t change even if they offered what he reportedly demanded, £160m. The reason is simple; City have left it too late to step up their pursuit, with just over two weeks of the transfer window remaining, which means Spurs would have no time to sign a suitable replacement.
Kane himself has began accepting the club’s decision, though the situation is likely to be reassessed next summer when the 28-year-old enters the final two years of his contract.
He is expected to be available for selection for the Premier League opener against City today (Sunday), but head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is still to assess his physical and mental state before making a decision.
