Spurs to rekindle Fernandes interest

Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to revisit the idea of signing Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola.

Spurs were heavily linked with the all-round midfielder early in the summer (along with Manchester United), but they ended up adding the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso to their ranks instead. However, faced with the prospect of parting ways with Christian Eriksen, who is now reportedly a target for both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, in January rather than losing him for free next summer, they are once more looking at Fernandes to plug the hole.

Fernandes’ superb form from last season has carried over to this term, and the 24-year-old has indeed proven himself as not only a great player in the middle of the park, but also as one of the main pillars of the Portugal national team alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Bernardo Silva. It appears that at the north London club they believe he would be an ideal candidate to provide the creative spark to lift their performances, which have recently been nothing short of abysmal.
