Spurs want Bale back?

Tottenham Hotspur were interested in bringing Gareth Bale back from Real Madrid on loan last summer, and according to AS, they may try again this year.

Towards the end of his first spell as Real Madrid boss, Zinedine Zidane did not have a good relationship with the Welshman, and there were reports that he even demanded for Bale to be shown the door. The world’s most expensive player at the time of his arrival, it would seem the winger had fallen on stony ground at Santiago Bernabeu.

His former club came forward offering a way out for him, but their inability to pay even half of his present wages of €12 million per year proved an obstacle too strong to overcome. Further more, Bale himself has been reluctant to give returning to north London any serious thought as he sees that move as a backward one.

On the other hand, no club has expressed readiness to pay around €70 million for a player turning 30 this summer, and with Zidane now back in the Bernabeu dugout, Bale will likely have to consider his options again with Spurs keen to try once more.
