With the chance to extend their advantage in the AFC Champions League positions, Sydney FC will host Adelaide at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Friday morning.

Starting with Friday’s hosts, picking up a much-needed 1-0 win away at Wellington Phoenix last week and climbing back into the top two, the mood in Graham Arnold’s camp should be on a high. Under the guidance of the Australian national coach, Sydney are yet to be beaten at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium in 2019, winning six of their last seven on home soil. One man to watch for the hosts will be leading goalscorer and former Bolton striker Adam Le Fondre. Finding the net from the spot last time out, the 32-year-old has three in his last four A-League appearances and now has 14 for the season.

As for the visitors, playing out a lackluster 0-0 draw with Newcastle Jets last week, Adelaide have failed to win any of their last three A-League outings and any push for the AFC Champions League seems off the table. Hunting down a nine-point deficit, it has been their form on the road that will be their biggest issue. Friday’s visitors have registered just a single goal in over 300 minutes of action away from Coopers Stadium and have picked up a single away victory in 2019. Slumping to a 2-1 loss when the two sides met last month, we’re backing another tricky morning for Adelaide.
