Thaksin still coy on Sven´s future with Man City

Manchester City owner Thaksin Shinawatra sidestepped questions Tuesday on the future of manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who is rumoured to be facing the chop in an end-of-season review.

But the billionaire businessman and former prime minister of Thailand said the postmortem would lead to changes at the club.

“It's normal at the end of the season that every Premier League football club will have to do something with the team, by strengthening the team,” the Thai billionaire told reporters in response to a question here.

“Everything is part of strengthening the team, including coach, players and even improving the pitch ourselves… ” he said.

An embarrassing 3-1 loss to a makeshift South China invitation team in Hong Kong last week — the fourth defeat in a row — added to speculation at the club that Eriksson faces the sack.

Thaksin has announced a post-season review of the team but so far both men have stayed silent on what the manager's future will be.

Eriksson said earlier this month that a mass show of support from City supporters at a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool appeared unlikely to sway Thaksin from ditching him.

Sven-Goran Eriksson is listed by TheFA as the all time second most successful coach manager in the History of English international football and is “statistically No.1″ with only five competitive games lost and three consecutive top international qualifying places during his tenure which resulted in England rising from the wilderness to FIFA No.4 world ranking.
Many members of the foreign sporting press hail Svennis as the greatest living soccer manager and continue to be amazed that England “threw him away” from the national job amid howls of protest by official England fan organisations merely due to malicious fabricated and xenophobic attacks from some within the media and it’s reported that a certain Sunday paper paid dearly for their mischief in an out of court settlement against this dignified and much admired man who surely has NOTHING to prove to the jealous and the ignorant minority who continue to snipe at his heels?
Very few people continue with the media hyped myth that Sven was “unsuccessful” as England’s boss and the record of the same “Golden Generation” who crashed in flames for Euro 08 without Sven’s guidance may speak volumes for his genius without recourse to the Lazio record and more recent embryonic MCFC turn around.
England’s loss was Man City’s gain and if both clubs management show personal death wish, there are plenty of international and top league club’s delightedly clamouring for a share of Svennis’ magic touch?
MCFC fans have shown that they deserve to keep their chance of repeating Lazio’s and Englands unprecidented success, but Sven deserves far better than Dr Shinawatra as a boss……
