With only two months left until the 2026 World Cup gets underway, all eyes will soon fall on North America.
Watching England sign off their pre-tournament preparations with a downbeat 1-0 loss at home against Japan during March’s international break, Thomas Tuchel’s squad have plenty of expectations on their shoulders this summer.
Although battles at both ends of the Premier League table look set to go down to the wire, many England internationals will already have one eye on the summer.
With plenty of Tuchel’s squad already at the heart of their own budding transfer sagas, a pair of England internationals are keen to get their respective domestic futures sorted before travelling over to North America.
Elliot Anderson – Nottingham Forest
While Elliot Anderson might have missed out away in Portugal on Thursday night as Nottingham Forest got their Europa League quarter-final adventure underway with a gritty 1-1 stalemate against Porto, the 23-year-old has cemented his spot as one of Europe’s hottest starlets this season.
Although he might have essentially been pushed out of beloved boyhood club Newcastle back in the summer of 2024 as both parties agreed a permanent deal, Anderson has enjoyed a real rise to superstardom.
While Forest might find themselves at the heart of a scrap in the race to keep hold of their Premier League status, their midfield talisman has established himself as one of England’s ultimate breakout stars this year.
Despite eventually keeping hold of fellow England international and skipper Morgan Gibbs-White last summer, the City Ground hierarchy have accepted that they have a monumental job on their hands in the race to fend off some heavyweight interest.
Becoming a key part of Tuchel’s squad, the former Newcastle starlet is widely expected to partner Arsenal’s Declan Rice at the heart of England’s midfield over in North America this summer.
Although Manchester United might have reportedly identified Anderson as their standout target to replace the departing Casemiro ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, it is their noisy neighbours who appear to be leading the chase.
With ongoing speculation over Rodri’s future at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola has reportedly already given the green light over a potential move for Anderson and they are willing to break the bank this summer.
🚨🔵 Manchester City will sign a new midfielder for sure… and mantain Elliott Anderson among top targets for summer window.
Nothing advanced yet but Anderson is among top 2/3 names on #MCFC list for new midfielder.
Man United are also interested.

Morgan Rogers – Aston Villa
While there might have been plenty of speculation last summer regarding Morgan Rogers’ immediate future in the Midlands, Aston Villa fans were relieved to see their attacking ace put pen to paper on a new long-term deal.
With it announced back in November that he had agreed on a contract extension that is set to run until 2031, Villa had made it public that they wanted to tie the England international down.
However, despite only agreeing a bumper new deal with Unai Emery’s side just a mater of months ago, the 23-year-old appears destined to find himself at the heart of another transfer saga this summer.
Since joining from Championship outfit for a reported fee of just £16million, Rogers has immediately taken to Premier League football and his stock remains at a red-hot high.
The 13-cap has scored 27 goals and added 21 assists across 115 appearances for Aston Villa since arriving in the Midlands and is also widely expected to be part of Tuchel’s travelling World Cup squad.
Reportedly open to a potential move away from Villa Park this summer, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all registered their interest and have reached out to Rogers’ representatives.
Alongside a string of blockbuster Premier League interest, Sky Sports reported this week that reigning European champions PSG are keeping close tabs on Rogers’ situation and have asked to be notified on any advances.
